Rule on moving 4 spaces backward

I've been playing this game for a number of years now and found a situration where a player was 3 spaces beyond a fast track space and, after having a card value of 4, wanted to move backwards 4 spaces into the bulls eye location. The rules only mentions the following:

"Bull's Eye - this is the center space. When you end a card one past a fast track space you have the option of entering the bull's eye. Once you enter the bull's eye, your marble must stay there until you play a face card, in which case you then move to the fast track exit space for your color."

Since the rules only mention getting in the bull's eye by ending one space after the fast track space, moving backward into the center would not be allowed.

Has anyone run into this situation?

We have been playing a lot and we have reviewed the rules a lot. The rules are somewhat incomplete in areas that get technical with experience players. We get very competitive! We decided that a 4 played can move backwards into the center.. (It is one space past the Fast Track spot only in reverse.) As long as everyone knows about the modified rule and has the opportunity to use the rule, we think it's fair. We also determined when a player plays a 4 when they are on fast track, they go backwards the long way. Maybe we should go backwards on Fast Track towards the start when a 4 is played???? You are not suppose to exit Fast Track once you start on Fast Track until you exit on your own color..??? What do you do?

The move backwards to the center was started by some folks we taught a couple of years ago. It made sense to them that this was OK. Others we have been playing with for over 10 years did not know anything about this move. But like you said, there are no hard and fast rules for every situtation.

We also go backwards the long way when we're on fasttrack.

As far as exitting fasttrack, we do jump into the bullseye if we get an Ace, face card, etc. to knock someone back to home from that position. I believe we also will exit if we want to pursue someone that is near winning.
